My Approach to Therapy

I believe that healing happens when you are fully heard and accepted by another human being.  My approach to therapy is to offer you this within a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space.  You will always be the focus of our sessions and it will always be your decision about what you choose or do not choose to share - as will be the depth at which you would like to explore and at what pace.

My core practice is Person-Centred therapy.  This is based on the idea that deep down, we all want to be the best versions of ourselves, but various life conditions or experiences may have affected our ability or confidence to do so.  This practice allows you to explore your feelings, issues, beliefs and behaviours to support you to become more self-aware.  It is the belief that you are the expert on yourself: no-one else knows what it is like to be you.  As such only you have the answers about how to become who you are authentically.  I can offer you unconditional support and guidance on this journey.  From time to time, I also use methods from Gestalt therapy, depending if this feels right for you.  This takes on a more creative approach, using objects to explore your feelings and behaviours towards other people in your life.
